YOAC Junior Athletes selected to represent their County at English Schools National Championships

We had several athletes make the entry standard for the English Schools National Championships at Alexander Stadium Birmingham July the 5th and 6th. 47 athletes made the entry and national standard but unfortunately they can only take 25 athletes from our county.
The competition is so strong in Somerset that National or close to National standard seems to be the mark to aim for to get selection.
Lilly Hawkins, Ila Burton, Georgia Silcox, Sam Somerville, James Bridge all made the entry standard and should be extremely proud of their achievements. Harry Lane was selected for Dorset in the 2000m steeplechase. Please forgive me if there were any others but these are the ones I know of.
Sam was selected for the 1500m steeplechase in an event he has only just started. He improved his p.b from 4.36 to 4.32 after only three races at the distance.
James was selected for the 800m after improving his time from 2.15 last year to 2.03.52. A massive improvement. Harry had a storming race in the South West and dipped well below the entry standard. Well done to all of them.
Also we must congratulate the Wells athletes, Oliver Fox for making it in the 3000m, Sam Bedford in the 400m and Emily Smith in the 1500m steeplechase.
