YOAC Junior Athletes selected to represent their County at English Schools National Championships

Wednesday, 03 July 2013

We had several athletes make the entry standard for the English Schools National Championships at Alexander Stadium Birmingham July the 5th and 6th. 47 athletes made the entry and national standard but unfortunately they can only take 25 athletes from our county.
The competition is so strong in Somerset that National or close to National standard seems to be the mark to aim for to get selection.

Jill Harrison wins two medals at the 2013 European Masters Indoor Athletics and Cross Country Championships in San Sebastian, Spain

Jill warmed up for her cross-country success by finishing 5th in the indoor 3000m in the W50 age group. Then, at the end of the week, on a flattish racecourse with warm weather, the Great Britain W50 Cross Country masters team gained a silver medal by virtue of their three highest finishers being in 11th place (Sharyn Ramage), 9th place (Susie Tawney)and Jill finishing in the bronze medal position with a great run. Congratulations to Jill for her excellent performances.

Yeovil & Wells win the Southern Mens League Division 2W 2012

Yeovil & Wells went to Horsham knowing that a 5th place finish in the final match would guarantee the League Title. A number of athletes were called up to the Yeovil British Athlete's League team and so a small group of 10 athletes did battle at Horsham. The end result was truly superb with Yeovil winning the final match by 40 points to win the league in style (with 4 wins out of 5 matches).
